Strengthening Our Network: ACoole Electrical's Collaboration with National Grid Electricity Distribution

At A Coole Electrical, we are proud to announce our collaboration with National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), the UK's largest electricity distribution network and the regional electricity distribution division of National Grid. Serving nearly 8 million customers across the East and West Midlands, South West, and Wales, NGED plays a crucial role in powering homes and businesses, and together, we aim to enhance the safety, reliability, and sustainability of the electricity supply network.

Enhancing Safety Through Cut-Out Asset Inspections

A key initiative within our partnership is the rolling programme of inspections of cut-out asset equipment—the incoming cable and fuse that supply power to properties. NGED has identified the need to maintain, update, replace, and accurately record the details of all network assets, some of which are located adjacent to or inside customer properties. This proactive approach is essential for preventing potential issues that could disrupt power supply or pose safety risks.

A Coole Electrical's contractor teams are undertaking visual inspections through door-to-door visits without prior appointments. Understanding that this may be an inconvenience, we assure customers that our teams are trained to conduct these inspections efficiently and with minimal disruption. Each team member carries proper identification and is prepared to address any questions or concerns on the spot.

The cut-out asset is typically situated near the electricity meter, and access is required to perform the inspection. These checks are crucial for identifying any signs of wear, damage, or other issues that may need attention. By addressing these proactively, we help ensure the ongoing safety and reliability of the electrical network, preventing potential outages or hazards.

We appreciate the cooperation of all residents and businesses in facilitating these inspections. Your support enables us to maintain the high standards of service that both NGED and A Coole Electrical are committed to providing. Together, we are working towards a safer, more reliable electricity supply for everyone.

Planning

Inspections will be carried out through door-to-door visits without prior appointments. Our contractor teams conducting the visual-only inspections will need access to the cut-out asset, which is typically located near your electricity meter.

If a job has been scheduled in our database for your property, a member of our team will contact you to agree on a convenient date for the work and discuss any access requirements needed to perform the task.

Access to the equipment can be arranged when the appointment is booked, allowing our team to be prepared ahead of the visit. If any items are blocking access to our asset, we kindly request that the property owner or tenant move them to ensure clear access to the equipment.

On The Day

ACoole Electrical teams conducting the visual asset inspections will knock on your door or press any visible doorbell, then step back from the doorstep to allow you to answer. If no one responds and our equipment is visible and accessible in an outside meter cabinet without the need to enter any gates or restricted areas, the inspection will still be completed, as it is a visual inspection only.

For any pre-planned appointments, our team will knock on the door or ring the doorbell, and once answered, they will check if anything has changed with the agreed plans to ensure we can proceed with the scheduled work.

Our staff will also follow any guidance you’ve provided beforehand regarding access.
